Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about preparing for the CAAS Private Pilot Licence theory exams with this site — what it covers, how the access tiers work, and how to study effectively.
Is this an official CAAS website?
No. This is an independent study tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated on behalf of the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore or any flight school. We build practice questions and study notes that follow the CAAS Private Pilot Licence (PPL) theory syllabus, which is itself based on ICAO standards, but the official requirements, examinations and licences always come from CAAS directly. Always confirm the current rules and examination arrangements through CAAS and your approved training organisation.
Which subjects does the site cover?
We cover all seven standard PPL theory subjects: Air Law, Aircraft General Knowledge (AGK), Human Performance, Meteorology, Navigation, Principles of Flight, and Radio Telephony. Each subject has both a free study guide and a pool of multiple-choice practice questions written in the exam style. You can also read the exam overview to see how the subjects fit together.
How do I use the site to study?
A reliable pattern is to read the study guide for a subject first, then immediately take a practice quiz in that same subject while the material is fresh. The quiz gives instant feedback on each answer with a short explanation, so you learn from your mistakes rather than just scoring them. Keep your quizzes short and frequent rather than cramming, and come back to your weakest subjects more often. Our study tips page goes into the technique in more detail.
What is the difference between guest, free trial, and subscription?
As a guest you can try a limited selection of subjects without creating an account, in an ad-supported format — enough to get a feel for the question style and difficulty. Creating an account and starting a free trial unlocks fuller access for a short introductory period so you can study seriously before committing to anything. A paid subscription gives unlimited access to all seven subjects, saves your progress and history against your account, and removes the ads. You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time through the billing portal.
Do my results and progress get saved?
When you are signed in to an account, your quiz history and progress are saved so you can see which subjects and topics you are strongest and weakest in over time. As a guest without an account, results are not stored between sessions — they are there to let you sample the experience. If tracking your improvement matters to you, sign in so the history follows you across devices.
How closely do the practice questions match the real exam?
Our questions are written to mirror the format and topic coverage of the CAAS PPL theory examinations: multiple-choice, single best answer, drawn from the same syllabus areas. They are practice questions, not the actual exam questions, and they are not a leaked question bank. The goal is to make you comfortable with the style of question and to expose gaps in your knowledge, so that the real exam feels familiar rather than surprising.
What if I fail or need to retake a theory exam?
Retake arrangements, any waiting periods between attempts, and the number of attempts permitted are set by CAAS and may change, so check the current CAAS examination requirements and speak to your training organisation for the specifics that apply to you. From a study point of view, the most useful thing after a near miss is to identify exactly which subject areas let you down and concentrate your practice there. Our per-subject quizzes and study guides are designed to make that kind of targeted revision straightforward.
How many questions should I do before I sit the exam?
There is no magic number, but consistency beats volume. A student who does a short quiz most days across every subject, reviews every wrong answer, and keeps returning to weak areas will usually be better prepared than someone who does one huge session the night before. Aim to reach the point where you can answer comfortably across all seven subjects without second-guessing the fundamentals, and where new questions in a subject rarely surprise you.
Does the site work on my phone?
Yes. The whole site runs in your browser on desktop, tablet, or phone — there is nothing to install. Short quizzes are deliberately bite-sized so you can fit one in around a commute or a break in your day, then pick up where you left off later.
I think a question or answer is wrong. Can I report it?
Please do. We treat the question pool as a living document and corrections from readers are one of the best ways to keep it accurate, especially when rules change. Head to the contact page and tell us the subject and roughly which question, plus what you think the correct answer should be. We read every report.
Ready to start practising?
Pick a subject and take a quick CAAS-style quiz, or read a study guide first to brush up before you test yourself.
